DesireFacilitatory: Increased in more than 90% of users.

Mechanism

Roughly simultaneous serotonin and dopamine release (plus norepinephrine); releases oxytocin, prolactin and cortisol. Enhances desire, emotional intimacy and subjective satisfaction while impairing performance, mimicking a post-orgasmic prolactin state.

Pharmacokinetics
Onset ~30–60 min; several-hour plateau.
Reversibility
Acute.

Sex differences & notes

Female arousal and orgasmic intensity enhanced; male erection inconsistent. In Zemishlany 2001, desire and satisfaction rose in >90% of users, orgasm was delayed but more intense, and erection was impaired in 40% of men.
